Next Generation Phenometrics: How engineering can address the next big challenge in plant sciences; Introducing the MSU Center for Advanced Algal and Plant Phenotyping (CAAPP)

The presentation will introduce CAAPP and describe new research opportunities it hops to catalyze. The aim of CAAPP is to place MSU at the forefront of the next revolution in plant sciences by developing transformative phenotyping technologies. These technologies will enable novel research directions for scientists at MSU and result in MSU becoming an “international point of destination” for scientists worldwide to come and perform specific types of phenotyping analysis.  CAAPP will integrate expertise in plant biology, evolutionary biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, engineering and computational and computer science to address fundamental and applied questions regarding the biology of photosynthetic organisms.
