How to Leverage Universities' Brain Power via IP
Abstract
In a high tech society, intellectual property (IP) is an important and sometimes essential asset for both commercial and non-commercial organizations. Industries rely on IP to thrive in the market place. Research institutions/universities monetize their IP to better sustain research activities. While new ideas and publications emerge everyday in universities, there are unique issues associated with how to effectively protect their innovative ideas. When there is a desire to monetize IP to enhance the innovative environment, it is crucially important to recognize problems that are more relevant to the industries and solutions that are more potent in the market place. The focus of this talk is to look into such unique issues and provide some practical tips in terms of how to leverage universities' brian power via IP.
