The
ARES has assembled a state-of-the-art
test facility for performing MTV measurements on in-cylinder flows of motored internal combustion engines. The
facility consists of a modified Hatz deisel engine, quartz cylinder for optical access to
the flow field and a unique mounting system for interchanging various head configurations. The engine is mounted on a vibration isolation table. The camera
and optics are independently mounted on breadboards that surround the engine. Much
of the work to date has been performed for Ford and Chrysler engine heads.
