Fluid Mechanics Research

Research into advanced methods for making complex flow field measurements, with application to important automotive components, including internal combustion engine cylinders and methods to measure micro-flows in devices such as fuel cells and transmission components.  This group evaluates and develops technology such as the implementation of micro-electromechanical devices (MEMS) in several automotive engine flow-control applications.  New chemicals for sensing and measurement technology are developed and demonstrated on a fundamental level in this group.  This group assists in the transfer of this technology to propulsion related applications.
