GE Vertical X-Ray Inspection System

Description

The GE vertical X-ray Inspection system is a self contained turnkey system used to perform non-destructive testing. The system is computer controlled for repeatibilty and accuracy. With its state-of the-art digital image enhancement and analysis functions, VISTAPLUS V is the perfect system for rapid and precise evaluation of x-ray radioscopic images. It features a range of image acquisition systems to guarantee optimum image quality and an optimized user interface to facilitate the creation of complex image processing macros for instance. In addition to its standard image processing functions, VISTAPLUS V also offers real-time filtering of the live image, guaranteeing the best possible image representation also while inspecting in motion.

The vertical-beam X-ray inspection system includes a 150kV micro-focus x-ray source, a 3-axis manipulator that allows zooming for higher magnification and manual manipulation as needed. All of these subcomponents are supplied in a compact X-ray protection cabinet with pneumatic sliding door and a hinged service door. The system is designed to meet current international radiation safety standards and complies with 21 CER 1020.40.

Applications

X-ray technology provides a detailed view of inside parts. The radiation is generated by a micro-focus source and emitted through the sample. A digital flatpanel detector is used to capture patterns of X-rays that pass through a specimen, showing different shades of gray depending on material and geometry. Thicker or denser material - such as iron, copper and lead - represent darker areas than thin or light materials such as plastic, paper or air. Typical materials may be IC chips, welded joints, polymers, composites materials etc.
