Administration
The Division of Engineering Research
(DER) serves as a centralized facility for the College of Engineering for research-related
activities. This consists primarily of Pre-Award activities, including electronic distribution of funding opportunities, proposal preparation and submission,
including NSF fastlane, budget preparation. In addition testing, facilities modification, cost-share and start-up account management, technology transfer and industrial relations are also part of DER.

Mission Statement The
Division of Engineering Research (DER) is a service unit within Michigan State
University, College of Engineering which supports the performance and development
of college research activities. DER is headed by a director and is operated under
the auspices of the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies.
Support activities include:
(1) the identification of diverse research support opportunities,
(2) the performance of research-related technical services
including proposal and budget preparation, (3) college cost-share,
start-up and testing account management (4) the oversight
of College research facilities, and (5) facilitation of technology
transfer and industrial relations for research activities.
