Engineering Expo Links Job Seekers with Michigan Companies
Michigan State University’s College of Engineering hosted Engineering Expo on Thursday, February 21, in the Engineering Building. About 1,000 students attended.
Described as a “laid-back career fair,” Engineering Expo provides a venue for students to explore career options in technology and manufacturing, network with professionals and alumni in the field, and gain advice about career preparation. It’s also an opportunity to secure co-op, internship, or full-time positions.
More than 55 of the 120 organizations participating in the event were recruiting for jobs within the state only, or with companies based in Michigan.
"We keep hearing ‘there are no jobs in the state,’ and ‘graduates will have to leave to secure employment,’” says Garth Motschenbacher, director of employer relations in The Center for Spartan Engineering in the College of Engineering. This event proves otherwise.
An additional 30 organizations were recruiting for jobs in the Midwest; statistics show that more than 65 percent of MSU College of Engineering graduates land jobs in the Midwest
