| College of Engineering Celebrates Its History
As we observe College of Engineering's centennial anniversary, we have taken a look back at our beginnings. In 1885, MSU President Edwin Willits, also known as the “father of engineering,” recognized the need for a program in mechanic arts and proposed to the state legislature a four-year course of study.
Today, Engineering is one of the largest and oldest colleges on the MSU campus, with six departments and more than 4,000 students. We have more than 25,000 alumni transforming the lives of people all around the world.
The links on the right give you an opportunity to explore the history of the College of Engineering, read the online version of our special issue of Currents Magazine, and view photos from the fire of 1916 that nearly put an end to engineering at MSU.
We invite you to share your MSU/College of Engineering memories with us. We will post some of your responses on these historical Web pages. Please e-mail them to:
