Prem Chahal, assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is a recipient of 2012 Young Faculty Award (YFA) from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The objective of the DARPA Young Faculty Award (YFA) program is to identify and engage rising research stars in junior faculty positions at U.S. academic institutions and expose them to Department of Defense needs as well as DARPA’s program development process (http://www.darpa.mil/opportunities/universities/young_faculty.aspx).

Chahal received the funding for his research proposal, titled “Heterogeneous Integration of Nano-Devices for THz Circuit Applications.” The objective of this research is to develop terahertz circuits by integrating nano-devices on silicon substrate for imaging and sensing applications.
