Anil Jain Receives IEEE W. Wallace McDowell Award
Anil K. Jain, University Distinguished Professor with joint appointments in computer science & engineering and electrical & computer engineering, has been awarded the IEEE Computer Society's W. Wallace McDowell Award. He received the award on the basis of his "pioneering contributions to theory, technique, and practice of pattern recognition, computer vision, and biometric recognition systems."
The W. Wallace McDowell award is one of the highest technical awards given solely by the IEEE Computer Society. Selection is based on outstanding technical accomplishment and achievement. Jain joins the ranks of previous awardees who include programming pioneer Grace Hopper; FORTRAN developer John Backus; and Timothy Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web.
