NSF Grant on Control of Smart MaterialsXiaobo Tan and Hassan Khalil have received an NSF grant for Nonlinear and Adaptive Control of Smart Material-actuated Systems with Application to Nanopositioning. Shantanu Chakrabartty receives NSF grant for Speech Biometrics ResearchShantanu Chakrabartty has received an NSF grant titled "Cooperative Learning-Unlearning Algorithms for identification of Robust Auditory Manifolds" for conducting research in the area of noise robust speaker identification systems. Ph.D. Student Wins Third Place in IEEE Competition M. Vikram won third place in the IEEE Antenna and Propagation Society Student Paper Competition. This year there were 176 contestants and 15 finalists. Prof. Shanker Balasubramaniam is Vikram's advisor. Representing MSU, Dr. Tan and Dawn presented a poster "Electroactive Polymers as Artificial Muscles and Sensors: Investigation from a Systems Perspective," that described our NSF CAREER project and its potential societal, educational, and outreach impacts.
