The Design Program was originated for enhancing design education, incorporating an end-of-semester
undergraduate design conference, and a program of outreach scholarship.

Design Program Goals:
- To educate junior- and senior-level engineering students in contemporary engineering design practices and the associated eclectic fringe disciplines.
- To provide manufacturers a competitive advantage in the marketplace by flooding them with a deluge of out-of-the-box thinking, entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity. The essence of this town-and-gown enterprise is the synergistic confluence of ideas from seasoned industrialists and energetic, technologically-adept undergraduates.

- To undertake humanitarian projects in Michigan communities.
- To educate pre-collegiate students about the benefits of a college education, mechanical engineering practices, and the role of engineers in society.
