Finite Element Analysis

ANSYS Fluent

13.0

ANSYS FLUENT software contains the broad physical modeling capabilities needed to model flow, turbulence, heat transfer, and reactions for industrial applications ranging from air flow over an aircraft wing to combustion in a furnace, from bubble columns to oil platforms, from blood flow to semiconductor manufacturing, and from clean room design to wastewater treatment plants. Special models that give the software the ability to model in-cylinder combustion, aeroacoustics, turbomachinery, and multiphase systems have served to broaden its reach.

Formerly known as Fluent /Gambit, a computer program for modeling fluid flow and heat transfer in complex geometries. Gambit is a pre-processor for geometry modeling and mesh generation.

LS-DYNA

971

LS-DYNA is a general purpose transient dynamic finite element program capable of simulating complex real world problems. It is optimized for shared and distributed memory Unix, Linux, and Windows based platforms.

MARC/MENTAT

2010

Marc and Mentat combine to deliver a complete solution (pre-processing solution and post-processing solution) for implicit nonlinear FEA. Marc provides the easiest to use and most robust capabilities for contact, large strain, and multiphysics analysis available today to solve static and quasi-static nonlinear problems.

Interactive Groundwater

A sophisticated combined research and educational software environment for unified deterministic and stochastic groundwater modeling. Based on a set of new efficient and robust computational algorithms, the software allows simulating complex flow and transport in aquifers subject to both systematic and "randomly" varying stresses and geological and chemical heterogeneity. Interactive Groundwater was developed at Portland State University. The program was modified and extended at Michigan State University and can be found in all of the DECS public PC labs.

Interactive Groundwater is available to anyone who wants to use it and has access to the DECS labs.

ABAQUS

6.9-2

The Abaqus Unified FEA product suite offers powerful and complete solutions for both routine and sophisticated engineering problems covering a vast spectrum of industrial applications. Dynamic vibration, multibody systems, impact/crash, nonlinear static, thermal coupling, and acoustic-structural coupling using a common model data structure and integrated solver technology are some of these applications.

ANSYS

13.0

Multiphysics simulation solutions from ANSYS allow engineers and designers to create virtual prototypes of their designs operating under real-world multiphysics conditions. As the range of need for simulation expands, companies must be able to accurately predict how complex products will behave in real-world environments — where multiple types of coupled physics interact. Industry-leading software from ANSYS enables engineers and scientists to simulate the interaction between structural mechanics, heat transfer, fluid flow and electromagnetics all within a single, unified engineering simulation environment.
