Adobe Acrobat is a program published by Adobe to read, create, and edit Portable Document Format (PDF) files. PDF files were developed by Adobe to be a file type that is not only more secure than a typical document but also would appear the same on any platform or screen. Acrobat can be purchased from DECS. There is also a free version of Acrobat called Adobe Reader that can only read PDF files.

Architect is a schematic-based system-level modeling environment used to quickly explore design alternatives and optimize performance at high accuracy. Designer is a physical design tool that contains a 2D layout editor, materials property editor and database, a process editor, as well as an automatic 3D model generator.

CoventorWare software is used in the design of micro electromechanical systems (MEMS). Coventor changed its company name from Microcosm in early 2001 and changed its Memcad product name to CoventorWare.
CoventorWare version 2006 is available on all DECS machines.
This software is licensed for class use, and managed at University of Michigan.
SODA is a Structural Optimization, Design and Analysis computer program for use by structural engineers. The program has been developed over many years by a research group in the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Waterloo, Canada, in conjunction with a broad base of practising engineers throughout North America to ensure that the program meets the practical needs of the structural engineering community.

Microsoft Outlook is full featured organizational software; developed and distributed by Microsoft. This software is part of the Microsoft Office Suite. Outlook provides support for e-mail, calendar, to-do lists, and notes. The e-mail client portion of Outlook can support all types of e-mail servers, including IMAP and POP3. The calendar portion supports both local calendars and network calendars through Microsoft Exchange. Outlook is available on all DECS PC Lab computers and can be installed by DECS on any machine for a minimal fee.
