|Xilinx (Project Manager)||
Xilinx is a program used to code and design circuits in VHDL. Xilinx can be used with Model Sim to run simulations and tests on designed circuits.
WinSCP is a free utility that can be used to transfer files over SFTP and FTP protocols. This is a fast and secure way to transfer files between two computers on a network. WinSCP is installed on all DECS Lab machines and is, by default, on all machines installed by DECS. WinSCP can also be downloaded free of charge.
|Visual Studio .NET Professional||
The Microsoft Visual Studio development system is a suite of development tools designed to aid software developers—whether novices or seasoned professionals—cope with complex challenges, and create innovative solutions. Visual Studios can be used to improve the development process as well as make achieving breakthroughs easier and more satisfying.
Teamviewer is a remote-viewer connection software application that DECS is utilizing to provide assistance to users whose machines were either not installed by DECS or are not the MSU network—whether they are across campus, across the country or across the world! A file is sent to a user that gives DECS the ability to troubleshoot the computer and help fix an issue. It has been proven to be a valuable tool for faculty that are out town for a conference and have experienced computer issues.
Synopsys products enable designers to create and verify complex integrated circuits and SoC designs from concept to silicon. Synopsys provides a complete front-to-back design and test environment, system-level to silicon-level verification, design reuse technology and professional services to help its customers get their silicon working quickly and accurately. NanoSim, HSpice, Taurus and Saber are among the tools. The Electrical and Computer Engineering department uses these in some classes and research work as alternatives to the Cadence tools.
|Symantec Endpoint AntiVirus||
Symantec Protection Suite Advanced Business Edition is an “all-in-one” suite that protects critical business assets by securing against today’s malicious malware and spam threats and by rapidly recovering key systems. It is the only suite that offers superior security with endpoint, email, data protection and backup and recovery capabilities.
Sonnet's suites of high-frequency electromagnetic (EM) Software are aimed at today's demanding design challenges involving predominantly planar (3D planar) circuits and antennas. Predominantly planar circuits include microstrip, stripline, coplanar waveguide, PCB (single and multiple layers) and combinations with vias, vertical metal sheets (z-directed strips), and any number of layers of metal traces embedded in stratified dielectric material.
The ECE Shop manages the installation of this program.
SODA is a Structural Optimization, Design and Analysis computer program for use by structural engineers. The program has been developed over many years by a research group in the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Waterloo, Canada, in conjunction with a broad base of practising engineers throughout North America to ensure that the program meets the practical needs of the structural engineering community.
Screen is a full-screen window manager for a user to run multiple windows thru a single session on a server.
|PuTTY and SSH||
Ssh (Secure Shell) is a program to login to another computer over a network, to execute commands in a remote machine, and to move files from one machine to another. This is also used quite a bit for checking email. It provides strong authentication and secure communications over insecure channels. It is intended as a replacement for rlogin, rsh, rcp, and Telnet.
