SpamAssassin is an e-mail filter, written in Perl, to identify SPAM using a wide range of heuristic tests on e-mail headers and body text.
Users find that enabling SpamAssassin greatly reduces the amount of SPAM present within their EGR Inbox. Users should also be sure to check their "Spam" and "Spam-last-week" e-mail folders for any false positives. Anytime a false positive (a message that was marked incorrectly as SPAM) is found it should be forwarded with full headers to abuse@egr.msu.edu.
(NOTE: If you are currently using the old mail server, you will need to be migrated to the new one. Please contact DECS for assistance.)
