Deleting from Outlook Express with Full Quota

Outlook Express is installed as a part of Microsoft Windows XP.

If an account is using 100 percent of its disk quota (M: drive space), deleting messages may require some email client modifications. The problem can also be resolved by a reduction in the usage of M: drive file storage.

Outlook Express stores its "Trash" folder on the local hard drive. This means the messages put in the trash are saved on the computer used to put them there. As this is the case no action is necessary to make possible the deleting of messages with this mail client. The directions that follow instruct how to delete messages with Outlook Express whether or not your M drive is full.

To Remove Messages:

  • Select the messages you wish to delete by holding the control key; abbreviated "Ctrl" on the keyboard, and clicking on each of them. (image)

  • Clicking the "Delete" button will mark all the messages for deletion. (image)

  • Finally click the "Expunge" button to remove all the items previously marked for deletion. (image)
