Register on the EGR Network

Steps for Network Bouncer Registration

ATTENTION! Please read the procedure and make sure you understand it completely before continuing. Please contact the DECS Support Office if you have any questions or concerns.

  1. Verify that you have the appropriate network cables, cards, etc.
  2. Verify your system(s) network settings. Make sure each system is configured to use DHCP (the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). See How to Switch a Computer to Use DHCP for instructions on switching to DHCP for several operating systems.
  3. Connect your system to the network by enabling the wireless connection or connect your computer to a wall jack with an ethernet cable.
  4. Open a web browser and register your computer at the following address: http://dhcp.egr.msu.edu

Methods of Registration

Sponsored Registration (This option is only available to unregistered PC's)

Use this method to register computers:

  • that permanently reside in an Engineering facility that may be used and/or managed by students, but are owned/sponsored by a faculty or staff member.
  • of guests, including visiting scholars, vendors, etc. that are working in coordination with a faculty or staff member.

    Prerequisite: You must know the e-mail address of your sponsor.

Registration with an MSU NetID

Use this method to register computers:

  • used by members of the MSU community. i.e. personal laptops, computers from other departments or colleges, etc.

Registration with an EGR NetID:

Use this method to register computers:

  • used by members of the Engineering community. In the future, this may be used to provide access to Engineering specific services, so use this method if possible.

    Prerequisite:You must have a valid EGR NetID and password.
