The Bolling Two-Roll Mill is a laboratory-scale version of material processing equipment commonly used in industry, most commonly in the manufacturing of rubber materials. It may also be used to blend polymers, plasticizers, fibers, and fillers to make composite sheets. The chrome plated cored steel rolls are 8” in diameter and 16” wide. Variable friction ratios between 1:1 and 1.5:1 may be achieved by independently adjusting the roll rotation speeds. The rolls are counter-rotating, creating a nip gap. The nip gap is adjustable between 10 – 250 mils. The rolls are oil heated to 400ºF.
