Reducing Torsional Vibrations using a circular path Pendulum Vibration Absorber
By: Ryan Monroe
Abstract
Torsional vibrations in automotive engines are present during piston
firing. These torsional vibrations affect the fuel economy of the car
by reducing gas mileage. It is therefore desired to reduce these
vibrations by means of attaching a vibration absorbing device to the
engines crank shaft. This paper will investigate the effectiveness in
reducing the torsional vibrations using a circular path pendulum with active torque control applied to the pendulum arm.
