Course Coordinator (Professor Thompson) Responsibilities

1.Educate, motivate and provide guidance to the class on all aspects of design through a series of one-hour lectures and during office hours.

2. Coordinate the grading of design group reports and the final oral presentation in accordance with the ME481 grading policy.

3. Undertake liaison and logistics activities with industrial sponsors and university personnel to ensure the effectiveness of the ME481 course.

4. Organize student teams and assign Faculty Advisors.

5. Compile all course grades and generate final course grades in accordance with the ME481 course grade weightings. Submit the grade sheet to the University Registrar.

6. Organize the end of semester Student Design Day to be held on the last day of classes.

7. Edit and typographically design the brochure for the Student Design Conference.

8. Employ an open-door policy to ALL students confronted by impediments pertaining to any ME481 project. My telephone is 355-2179, fax is 353-1750, my e-mail address is thompson@me.msu.edu and my office is 2450A Engineering Building .

9. Solicitation of industrial projects for ME481.

10. Administer the written examination based on information gleaned from the guest lecturers.
