The Syllabus
There is no printed syllabus for this course. All information that you need is available in Angel, which is available at:
If you do not understand what this means, we will introduce you to using the World Wide Web on the first day of class.
You should always look on the ME 285 Angel pages first for answers to your questions about the course.
Your Responsibilities:
Learning is an active process that requires both teachers and learners. We have done everything we can to design and provide you an environment that supports learning. You must be an active participant in your own learning.
You are responsible for material covered in each class. Each day of this course builds on the previous day. Since this course is about learning to use computers and software, you must participate in the classroom computer exercises. In fact, part of your homework each day will be to complete the classroom exercise if you have not finished it in class. If you have to miss class, you are responsible for the readings, course Web pages, E-mail about that day's classroom activities and homework.
We make extensive use of E-mail to tell you about your class exercises, homework, schedules and a myriad of other useful information. You should read E-mail at least the day before each class day so that you know of any last minute additions or changes that may impact your next class. Do NOT wait until you come to class to read your E-mail: by then it is too late.
We will only respond to e_mail from an engineering or msu e_mail account, (NOT hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.).
You should do the recommended exercises after each class. Every day's exercises are designed to help you practice what you learned in order to prepare for the next test. Each test requires that you use the skills learned in lab.
The instructors and the Teaching Assistants answer E-mail questions usually within 48 hours.
In the ten minutes after your class ends, your Teaching Assistant is available to answer questions and help you with any course materials.
You will get the most out of this help system if you have completed your homework and classroom exercises to the best of your ability.
