Current Progress

Spinner (2007-04-20)

The spinner is fully operational and we are doing testing now to evaluate the raw accuracy of the accelerometer.

Testing! (2007-04-14)

We have begun testing and so far are getting positive results. Twist tests show proper operation. More updates on the way!

Final PCB (2007-04-08)

The PCB has been finalized and sent to the ECE Shop to be manufactured.

First prototype working (2007-03-27)

We have a 100% functional prototype. One month ahead of schedule!
Design Day here we come!

PCB version 1 (2007-03-27)

Received our first etched PCB from the ECE shop

PCB submitted to shop (2007-03-23)

Submitted first printed circuit board to the ECE shop for etching

Schematic work (2007-03-15)

The schematic isn't finalized but we are progressing well to make it as good as possible.

Code Finalized (2007-03-01)

The code is complete and fully operational!

Debugging (2007-02-20)

We are still in the middle of debugging the code and getting it fully operational. It is taking a little longer than planned but we are adding functionality and making it capable of running on more than one PIC.

Function Integration (2007-02-14)

The math code has been integrated into the A/D conversion code. The display code has also been added although it runs separately from the math/sampling code.

Math Functions Written (2007-02-10)

The mathematical functions have been written and are ready to be added into the code.

Display initialization (2007-02-08)

The display is now initializing correctly. The functions have not been implemented but we are able to display text to one of the lines. Displaying text to the other line shouldn't be too difficult.

A/D Conversion maybe working (2007-02-02)

The code for the A/D conversions has been written and roughly tested. It hasn't been used with the accelerometer yet but outputting a switching signal indicates the frequency is correct and using the "WATCH" function in MPLab indicates the values read are correct.

Ordered Parts (2007-01-22)

We've ordered our parts.

Main Components (2007-01-19)

We've chosen our main components. A Microchip PIC for A/D, butterworth filter implementation, LCD driver, and calculations, Matrix Orbital LCD for display, and a Freescale Semiconductor accelerometer.

Meeting with IST (2007-01-17)

Today we met with IST President Greg Hoshal to discuss design requirements.
