This project is part of the Mondialogo Engineering Award contest,
run by DaimlerChrysler and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization (UNESCO). This six-month contest is designed
to bring together teams from developed and developing countries to work on engineering
projects that will improve the quality of life for communities in developing countries.
Contest goals focus in particular on poverty eradication and sustainable development,
as well as on fostering international collaborations and intercultural dialogue. The
contest began in December, 2006 and its final deliverable, a project proposal, is due
on May 31, 2007. Proposals will be judged on their quality of analysis, design,
presentation, relevance to contest goals, project feasibility, and quality of dialogue
between collaborating design teams. Winning proposals will receive funding of €20,000
for implementation, and will be presented at the Mondialogo Engineering Award Symposium
in September, 2007.
