Research and Regulatory Agencies
- The Agricultural
Research Service (ARS) is the principal research agency of the
U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
- The Toxics
Release Inventory (TRI) , published by the U.S. EPA, is a valuable
source of information regarding toxic chemicals that are being used,
manufactured, treated, transported, or released into the environment.
- The mission of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease
Registry (ATSDR), as an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services, is to prevent exposure and adverse human health effects
and diminished quality of life associated with exposure to hazardous
substances from waste sites, unplanned releases, and other sources of
pollution present in the environment.
- EPA Office
of Pesticide Programs
Commercial Sites
Information Ventures, Inc. provides
scientific information services to professionals in industry, government
agencies, academic, and medical institutions. Covers the major health challenges,
including electric and magnetic fields (EMF), herbicides and pesticides,
chemicals and other hazards in the workplace, pharmaceuticals, and cancer.
Factsheets
The ATSDR ToxFAQsTM
is a series of summaries about hazardous substances developed by the ATSDR
Division of Toxicology.

Databases
- This data base compiles most of the pesticide residue data measured in
surface water, surface microlayer, groundwater, sediment, and biota, of
Chesapeake Bay.
- The Integrated
Risk Information System (IRIS) , prepared and maintained by the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA), is an electronic data base
containing information on human health effects that may result from
exposure to various chemicals in the environment.
