Research in this specialty area focuses on both fundamental and
applied studies of the physical processes that influence the
occurrence, availability, transport and quality of water in the
surface and subsurface environments.
Active areas of research include
contaminant transport in heterogeneous media, the development of
coupled physical, chemical and biological models, multiscale modeling
of complex environmental systems, GIS-based modeling of
watershed-scale processes, environmental and geophysical fluid
dynamics, and advanced environmental visualization. Research in the
group is multidisciplinary in nature and strives for appropriate
balance between theory, computation, and experimental observation,
including both laboratory and field-scale experiments.
