The Pavement Research Center of Excellence, established in 1995, conducts research and technology transfer in the transportation infrastructure areas.
Researchers study the effects of conventional pavement materials, polymers, composite materials, design, construction quality, preventive
maintenance and rehabilitation practices on pavement performance under traffic load and environmental conditions.
Asphalt Pavement Lab
Our strength in civil infrastructure engineering is on the development of new civil infrastructure systems, and the repair and rehabilitation of existing
systems. Structures, concrete and asphalt pavements, construction materials and geotechnical systems come under this category. Primary sponsors of research
projects are the Michigan Department of Transportation, the National Cooperative Highway Research Program, the Federal Highway Agency, and the National Science Foundation.
