Research in this area focuses on classical geotechnical engineering as
well as emerging geoenvironmental engineering problems. Current
research projects focus on developing technologies to enhance the
performance of bioreactor landfills, developing new applications and
testing methods for geosynthetic products, slope stability analysis
and reliability analysis of earth dams and levees, foundation systems,
soil dynamics and soil-structure interaction, measuring and modeling
unsaturated hydraulic and thermal properties of soils for various
applications, remediation of ground water and surface water using
electricity, ultrasound, and reactive or sorptive permeable blankets.
