Professor Wallace’s research involves the mechanics of fluids in porous media.
Current research focuses on contaminant transport and remediation in
groundwater systems including the role of nonaqueous phase liquids such as
gasoline. This includes experimental and numerical investigation of the
processes which control in situ remediation in unsaturated and saturated soils.
Methods under study include forced venting, air sparging, the use of
organomodified soils for sorption zones.
