Courses Taught:

  • Dynamics of Environmental Systems (ENE801)
  • Mixing and Transport in Surface Waters (CE829)
  • Engineering Hydrology (CE421)
  • Introduction to Fluid Mechanics (CE321)

Recent Research:

  • Numerical Modeling of Redox Zonation in a Contaminated Aquifer
  • Modeling Near-Shore Circulation and Transport in Lake Michigan
  • 3D Reactive Transport Modeling of Carbon Tetrachloride Biodegradation at the Schoolcraft, MI Site
  • Experimental and Numerical Studies of Non-Darcy Flow and Transport in Porous Media
  • Modeling Hydrodynamics and Transport in the Red Cedar River, MSU

Interests:

Dr. Mantha's research interests are in the area of reactive transport and the fate of contaminants in surface water and groundwater. The focus of his current research is on understanding near-shore processes in the Great Lakes and the transport of pathogens in the environment. He is particularly interested in integrating laboratory and field-scale observations with modeling to explore the relevant processes and parameters. Dr. Mantha is developing improved methods for reactive transport modeling in the presence of physical and chemical heterogeneity as well as models for surface water groundwater interaction.
