Recent Research:
- Sensing, Analyzing and Forecasting Evaluation (SAFE) system for
bioreactor landfills.
- Estimation of field-scale thermal properties of bioreactor landfills.
- Electrochemical remediation of contaminated soils and water using
alternating current.
- Ultrasound remediation of contaminated soils and water.
- Classification of fine-grained soils using electrostatic properties.
- Lab-Scale evaluation of permeant liquid temperature on hydraulic
conductivity of geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs).
- Quantification of landfill gas emissions from earthen and composite

Interests:
Dr. Khire’s research interests lie in geoenvironmental and geotechnical
engineering. Dr. Khire is interested in developing innovative methodologies
to improve efficiency of leachate recirculation systems for MSW landfills,
developing cost-effective final cover options for landfills, innovative
methods to control gas collection, geotechnical evaluation of closed
landfills to construct industrial structures for end use, and developing
alternative cost-effective ground water monitoring systems for operational
and closed landfills. He is also interested in developing new methods
to measure interface properties of geosynthetics and use of recycled
materials for geotechnical and geoenvironmental applications.
