| It is reported that approximately 10 percent of the adult population has neck pain at any one time and 70 percent of individuals experience neck impairment at some point in their lives. Through the BDRL, research is being conducted to objectify the interaction between a physician and patient during a palpatory assessment of cervical lateral flexion. Significantly different trends in the kinematic data have been determined between individuals who are symptomatic as compared to those who are asymptomatic. Further, our data suggests a possible "therapeutic" effect during repeated palpatory assessments. This concept will be further analyzed with the hopes to quantify the progression of an individual's cervical function following treatment. | |
