The Baja SAE team at Michigan State University in East Lansing is the premiere Baja SAE® group in the state of Michigan. Every year, MSU students are tasked to design and build an off-road vehicle that will survive the severe punishment of rough terrain and in the East competition—water. Near the end of each school year, the team heads off to participate in competitions around the country. The experiences attained through participation and focusing on a team effort are an invaluable part of the college experience and prepares dedicated students for their careers after graduation.
While the College of Engineering is the home to the Baja SAE team, students from all majors are welcome. Designing and building a vehicle are only two steps toward a greater goal. Marketing plays an important part in getting any product off a factory floor and into the public for sale. SAE International expects teams to perform market investigations, research, and create finance reports to be presented at competition. Students studying in the areas of marketing and advertising, in addition to all other majors, are strongly encouraged to take a moment and contact the team leaders.
The Baja SAE team receives its funding through the University. However, the team would not be where it is today without the sponsorship and support shown by many American companies, both large and small. It is through these companies and the talent that each team member offers to the group that MSU Baja SAE is able to perform at competition.
