A farm energy audit evaluates energy consumption in every operation on a farm, including irrigation, and determines where changes can be made to save resources. Improvements to existing machinery or new machinery are suggested to reduce the energy used. Updating technology, such as converting a diesel powered pump to electric can be a beneficial investment over time.

With the University of Nebraska-Lincoln,MSU is working on developing a training workshops to certify future auditors to assess farms in Michigan and across the Midwest.
