Promote excellence in the development and practice of chemical engineering.
Scholarship Reapplication
Scholarship Purpose: To promote the advancement of undergraduate engineering and to encourage students to enter the field of chemical engineering by providing financial support.
General Description: A $2000 scholarship awarded over 4 years to a graduating high school senior who plans to study chemical engineering at an accredited university or college. The scholarship will reward past academic performance as well as school and community involvement; it is not strictly based on financial need. It is intended for a student who has demonstrated a high proficiency in core academic courses and who has a high probability of success at obtaining a chemical engineering degree.
Eligibility: Geographically, the pool of applicants will include the same general area represented by the Mid-Michigan chapter of the AIChE. The scholarship is open to all graduating high school seniors who are interested in chemical engineering and have intentions of entering an accredited engineering curriculum.
Required Applicant Information: Completion of the scholarship re-application form including social security number, college grade point average, school awards & honors, listing of all other known scholarships received and applied for, and a copy of college grade transcripts.
Information Not Required: It is not required that applicants divulge detailed information regarding family/personal finances, gender, race, religious affiliation, or any personal information not specifically asked for on the application. A few general questions regarding general financial status will be required.
Requirements Upon Receiving Award: Award payments will be made directly to the recipient and are to be used at the recipients discretion. There will be no requirements placed on how the scholarship is to be spent. Award recipients will be eligible to reapply each academic year, for a maximum of 4 years. Renewal is contingent upon continued enrollment in a chemical engineering curriculum and upon maintaining a minimum cumulative grade point average as defined by the AIChE committee (currently 2.5/4.0). Students who choose to enter a co-op work/study program will be eligible to renew their scholarship as they reach each successive undergraduate class standing (Soph, Jr, Sr) as opposed to calendar year.
