Hey Folks, I am the VP Publicity for the 09-10
school year. I am currently in South Charleston, WV doing a co-op with
Bayer MaterialScience. I grew up in Mt. Pleasant, MI and was
born in London, Canada. I originally started out in the Fine Arts
at Central Michigan University but after several experiences decided to
switch to engineering because of my strong math and science background
from highschool and interest in design. After transferring
to MSU for Chemical Engineering, I found that it was the absolute best
place for me to be. Despite coming from something totally and
completely different, people have been welcoming and more than helpful,
and the resources and opportunities made available to you by
organizations like AIChE are endless. Ask questions, put yourself
out there and don't be afraid to make mistakes! Talk to your
professors and peers; the time you have here is invaluable! Have
a sense of curiosity and quench it. If you are curious about this
organization, engineering in general or Chemical Engineering, don't be
afraid to just show up to one of the general meetings and ask
questions, whether you are a freshman or undecided.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me at grossm62@msu.edu
Laura Bonefeld 2009-2010 Co-Vice President, Publicity & Member At Large Hey guys, my name is Laura Bonefeld and I'm a fourth year Junior. I was a Human Biology major in Lyman Briggs but switched to Chemical Engineering my junior year (thus the need to go an extra year). I've been involved in quite a few organizations on campus (Inside MSU, Lyman Briggs Student Advisory Council, College of Natural Science Dean Student Advisory Council, and a few more) and I'm excited to get more involved in AIChE this year! Last summer I lived in Greece for six weeks for study abroad and had an amazing time over there. I'm really interested in traveling so I can see the world and learn more about other cultures. This summer I've been working in MSU's Plant Biology building as a laboratory assistant for the Buell Lab and I love it. I stumbled upon a job application for it on MySpartanCareer.com and it's been working out great this summer and I'll be continuing to work there over the school year. I love to play soccer, tennis, Euchre and go to the beach-- which is the main reason I'm missing my home town of Marquette (for the summer that is). It's right on Lake Superior, so it's great in the summer and awful in the winter. If you think hiking to class in the winter time is bad on campus just try going to Marquette in the winter!! Well that's about all, want to know more? Just ask. :) |
