2007-2008 Treasurer  -  Michelle Marinich

Hi, my name is Michelle Marinich. This year I am the Treasurer of AIChE. I come from a farming family in Yale, MI. As a freshman, I was undecided about a major, but I was math and science focused. After taking classes in Packaging, Environmental Studies, and Mechanical Engineering, I finally stumbled into Chemical Engineering. I have stuck with it because a Chemical Engineering degree can lead you in a million different directions. There is a huge variety in the types of careers chemical engineers choose.

This summer I worked for IBM in Essex Junction, Vermont doing work in Environmental Programs. I worked on making sure the site was compliant for all air quality standards of the EPA, the State of Vermont, and IBM Corporate Policy.

I want to encourage anyone (especially underclassmen) interested in Chemical Engineering to come to our meetings to learn about the major and the types of jobs available after graduation. Getting an internship early is one of the best ways to figure out what you want to do, and AIChE can help you do that.
