Please read about our community service events in the 2007-2008 school year.

AIChE has not yet decided on this years community service events.  For suggestions please contact our community service coordinator, Bem O'mell at omellben@msu.edu.

Community Service

Last year our favorite activities were the school snack bags, "Into the Streets," and the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. This year we hope to do these activities again as well as one more that has not yet been determined.

The school snack bags program is run by the American Red Cross, and is an easy Fall activity for AIChE. We receive supplies for small bags of snack, which we package for the Red Cross, and decorate for the children who receive them. These children are usually already receiving school lunch and use the bags for food when they go home at night because some do not get meals outside of school.

Volunteer this year!

Relay for Life
The Relay for Life is a 24 hour walk, run, roll relay with a carnival like atmosphere. Each team has a "campsite" that hosts activities and participates in the activities happening through the night.  This event is usually held in the spring semester.  More information on how to participate or donate to the cause will be posted when made available.  Click on the link to find out more on where Relay for Life is and how to participate in your own community.
