Endowment Scholarships, Funds and Fellowships

Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering Discretionary Fund arrow
Funds are used according to need.
Agricultural Engineering Laboratory Enhancement Endowment Fund arrow
(Naming opportunity): Well-equipped teaching/research laboratories are critical in the transition from agricultural to biological engineering. The current laboratories are inadequate to conduct cutting-edge research in areas such as food safety, bio-based products, and biosensors for food safety and security. Several naming opportunities exist. $250,000
Agricultural Engineering Endowed Fellowship Fund
Arthur W. Farrall Endowed Scholarship Fund arrow
This fund was established to support minority students in Biosystems Engineering, in particular, African American students. This award is intended to encourage students who have demonstrated the capacity to achieve educational and professional goals, the motivation to achieve educational and professional goals, and the initiative to seek further opportunities.

Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering Centennial Endowment Fund arrow
This fund commemorates alumni and pass on the hopes and dreams of the department to future students. Now more than ever the University and College are prompting the departments to provide their own funds for student and faculty travel and development. This endowment will provide the needed funds for faculty and students to travel to conferences and be involved in other learning ventures.
Clarence and Thelma Hansen Endowed Scholarship Fund arrow
This fund was established to encourage students in the field of agriculture and gives preference to students who have grown up on a farm or have had work experience in agriculture.
Electrical Technology for Agriculture Fund
F.W. Bakker-Arkema Endowed Scholarship Fund in Biosystems Engineering arrow
This fund was established to support minority students in Biosystems Engineering, in particular, African American students. This award is intended to encourage students who have demonstrated the capacity to achieve educational and professional goals, the motivation to achieve educational and professional goals, and the initiative to seek further opportunities.
Galen K. Brown Endowment Fund arrow

This scholarship was established in memory of Galen K. Brown by his family, a national and international expert in the field of fruit and vegetable harvesting and post harvesting handling. The scholarship is awarded to a graduate student conducting research in fruit and vegetable mechanization including but not limited to harvest and post harvest operations intended to preserve or enhance quality or add value to commodity. Recipients are normally selected during the spring semester.

George E. and Betty L. Merva Endowed Scholarship Fund arrow
This award is for juniors or seniors pursuing a degree in Biosystems Engineering within the Department of Biosystems & Agricultural Engineering. Students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average and have demonstrated leadership activities.
Howard F. and Esther L. McColly Endowed Scholarship Fund arrow
This award is intended to encourage undergraduate students who have demonstrated the capacity to achieve educational and professional goals.
Katherine and Merle L. Esmay Endowed Fellowship Fund arrow
Candidates for this fund must be graduate students currently enrolled in the Department of Biosystems & Agricultural Engineering and must have graduated from a high school located in a foreign country.
