SOILS TRAINING WORKSHOP

The session is intended to provide individuals with a basic background of soils, soil classification, and various capabilities in regard to onsite sewage disposal. There will also be some field review and discussion of the various types of septic systems installed at the training center-

First Day - May 9 or October 31

  • 12:30 p.m. Field Visit to Soil Pit - Horizons
  • 1:00 Soil -- Natural Drainage and Mottling
  • 1:30 Soil Texture 2:00 Film – "Water Movement in the Soil" Wastewater Movement through Soils
  • 2:20 Soil Maps and Interpretations
  • 2:45 Break
  • 3:00 Field Visit -- Drainage Characteristics

Second Day - May 16 or November 7

  • 9:00 a.m. Questions, First Day Reflections
  • 9:15 Texture Lab
  • 10:15 Introduction to Training Center
  • 11:15 Participant Evaluation of Soil Pits (in teams)
  • Noon Lunch
  • 12:30 p.m. Revisit Soil Pits -- Group Discussion of Soil Absorption System Designs
  • 1:45 Site Evaluation for Large Systems -- Conductivity Determinations
  • 2:15 New Products and Concepts in Onsite Sewage Disposal
  • 3:00 Adjourn

Refund of $125 ($25 administrative fee not returned) when cancellation is received three business days prior to workshop. No refunds after this time.
