Anyone who has ever known “Ag Engineering” at Michigan State University will relish this well-researched history.
Author John Gerrish has written a lively story that traces the evolution of the department from Farm Mechanics to Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering. He uses global events to make sense of departmental choices and vision. He has hit the noteworthy achievements and told of their impacts. Professor Gerrish bravely tried to write an objective account, but his enthusiasm for the department can hardly be missed. The book has an upbeat ending, which leaves us eager to read the next edition of the department history in the year 2031.
The artwork and layout for this in-house publication are by Nancy Aitcheson. She designed the cover, arranged the text and approximately three-hundred historical photos that make this book a collector’s item.
