Awards

The Michigan Association of Extension Agents (MAEA) has selected Dr. Timothy Harrigan to receive the 2006 Outstanding Extension Specialist Award. 

 Each year two outstanding extension specialists are recognized by the MAEA that have provided Michigan State University Extension (MSUE) and the people of Michigan with exceptional extension programming and/or applied research. 

Dr. Harrigan received the award due to his notable research on slurry seeding cover crops and his extension programming with many statewide educators.  He will receive his award at the MAEA Annual Meeting on October 11, 2006 in Grand Rapids.


USDA has awarded Dr.Timothy Harrigan for his proposed project entitled   "Sustainable Agriculture 2006: Developing Sustainable Agriculture Systems"


Michigan Animal Industry Initiative has awarded Dr. Steve Safferman for his proposed project entitled "Animal Agriculture Facility Runoff Control Using Intensive Management & Treatment Channels",

 

 

 

 


Michigan Department of Environmental Quality has awarded Dr. Evangelyn Alocilja for her proposed project entitled "Rapid Detection System for Viable E. Coli in Surface Water"

 

 

 

 


Washington State University has awarded Dr. Kirk Dolan for his proposed project entitled, Extending Shelf-Life of Asparagus Using Polypropylene Packaging and Improving Methods to Remove Sand from Asparagus

 

 

 


Dr. Bradley Marks has been promoted to the rank of full professor. This promotion is a testament to Dr. Marks' excellence in teaching, research, and service.  We appreciate his many ongoing contributions to the department.

Biosystems engineering students,  Erin Henderson, Phillip Vandenberge (pictured) and Tyler Wright's poster was presented at the College of Engineering Summer Research Internship Program . The project was on the removal of phosphorous from on-site generated wastewater.
