KUDOS

Dr. Bradley Marks was the departmental recipient of the 2002 Withrow Teaching Excellence Award from the College of Engineering. The Withrow Awards recognize faculty who have rendered distinguished service in instructional activities.


Biosystems Engineering graduate student, Steve Radke and Professor Dr. Vangie Alocilja attended the Seventh World Congress on Biosensor held in Kyoto, Japan on May 15 - 17, 2002. They presented a joint paper entitled Market Analysis of Biosensor for Food Safety. Dr. Alocilja also presented a poster jointly authored by her and graduate student Zarini Muhammad-Tahir entitled A Conductimetric in Biosensor for Biosecurity.


Biosystems Engineering seniors, Matt Duncan, Jennifer Gleim, Lisa Kindschy, Meghan McKelvey, under the direction of Dr. Evangelyn Alocilja won first place in Task 21: Developing Alternative Satirizers for Sprout Seeds, during the 12th International Environmental Design Contest held in Las Cruses, New Mexico on April 8th - April 11th, 2002.


Biosystems Engineering was represented by Tracy Kamikawa and Marita Sheldon at the 2002 University Undergraduate Research and Activity Forum on April 5, 2002. Tracy was awarded second place in poster presentation and Marita was awarded first place in oral presentation under the Engineering and Math category. Both topics were related to their research on biosensors.
