Director Joins Keith G. Tinsey has been named Managing Director of the Michigan Agricultural Electric Council (MAEC). Tinsey, a Port Austin, Michigan native and Michigan State University graduate, is the second managing director in the eight year history of the MAEC. Tinsey is responsible for coordinating all programs on behalf of the MAEC, which was created to provide educational information on electricity to farmers, agriculture equipment dealers and other interested parties in agriculture or elsewhere. Tinsey received a bachelor's degree in agricultural engineering from MSU in 1989, followed by a master's degree in biological and agricultural engineering from North Carolina State University. He has worked for J-Star, Inc. of Fort Atkinson, Wisc., Techmark, Inc. of Lansing, Mich., and since 1999 has served as the director of standards and technical activities for the American Society of Agricultural Engineers. The MAEC is formally comprised of academic and industry representatives, with additional participation by regulatory and agricultural industry officials. Michigan State University, the Michigan Electric Cooperative Association and its member cooperatives, American Electric Power, Consumers Energy, The Detroit Edison Company, Excel Energy, Wisconsin Electric Power and Wisconsin Public Service all actively support the MAEC. Also participating are representatives of MSU Extension, Michigan Farm Bureau, Michigan Milk Producers Association, Dairy Farmers of America, the Michigan Department of Agriculture and the Michigan Public Service Commission.
