First Day - March 6 or October 2

  • 10:15 A homeowner's questionnaire to provide use information - Ted Loudon
  • 10:45 Estimating and measuring flow - Ted Loudon
  • 11:00 Conventional soil absorption --septic tank maintenance issues - Ted Loudon
  • 11:45 Wastewater samples--when, how, and what they will tell you - Ted Loudon

Noon Lunch

  • 1:00 p.m. Pumps and pumping chambers - Bill Gregory/Dan Milan
  • 2:30 Pump controls, floats, timers - Bill Gregory/Ron Lindsay
  • 4:00 Pressure distribution pipe networks - Ted Loudon
  • 4:30 Pipe and pipe joints - Industry Representative

Second Day - March 7 or October 3

  • 8:30 a.m. Mounds - Ted Loudon/Jon Morrison
    • Proper designs
    • Setting up a mound for regular maintenance
    • Regular maintenance procedure and check list
    • Trouble shooting a "challenged" mound
    • Flow measurement and close volumes

     

  • 10:00 Sand filters - Jon Morrison
    • Principles of operation--biological and physical
    • Proper designs
    • Special needs of single pass and recirculating types
    • Setting up a sand filter for maintenance
    • Sampling--when, how, and what do you learn
    • Use of a maintenance check list

     

Noon Lunch

  • 1:00 p.m. Aerobic treatment units - Dan Milan
  • 2:00 Trouble shooting failed or failing systems–case examples
    • Never fix it until you know why it broke - Ted Loudon/Ron Lindsay

  • 2:30 Other alternative systems you may encounter Ted Loudon

Make check payable to Michigan State University at $150 per person. Fee includes technical materials and lunch for two days. Payment must be included with registration form. No invoicing. Refund of $125 ($25 administrative fee not returned) when cancellation is received 3 business days prior to workshop. No refunds after this time.
