The MAEC has been formed to serve as a clearing house and information source on electrical issues for farmers, extension agents, veterinarians,and anybody involved with agriculture in Michigan. The goals of the MAEC are to work cooperatively with the farmers of Michigan and the agriculturally related industries in providing electrical information for the benefit of all. The MAEC is comprised of academic, regulatory and industry representatives from Michigan State University, the Michigan Public Service Commission, Consumers Energy Company, The Detroit Edison Company and the members of the Michigan Electric Cooperative Association. The council's efforts are concentrating on educational and informational programs for MSU extension, electrical contractors, farmers, agricultural equipment dealers, and power suppliers. Programs include:
A Quarterly communication, the Newswire provides information to all
members of the Council and to other interested parties. The MAEC is continually
accumulating information on new electrical technologies related to production
agriculture.
