ORIENTATION

All students new to Michigan State University must go through an orientation program to learn about being an MSU Student.

Orientation is handled though the Institute of Agricultural Technology. Orientation generally occurs in the summer, however there is a short orientation session directly at the beginning of the fall semester. The Electrical Technology program also runs it's own orientation program which compliments the universities program. This program runs jointly with the Office of New Student Programs.

The Agricultural Technology Orientation program is only available for Agricultural Technology students and it will allow the students to meet with their advisor, register for fall semester classes, as well as learn about the program, and meet other ET students. This orientation will include aspects on student life, general academics, and the other topics which are covered in the Freshman and Transfer Orientation programs presented to all students.

The university maintains a web page for the main orientation programs.

GRADUATION

Students successfully completing the requirements of the Electrical Technology program receive a Certificate from the Institute of Agricultural Technology and are eligible to participate in the annual graduation ceremony of the Institute of Agricultural Technology held on a Sunday afternoon at the end of March at the Wharton Center. This highly personal ceremony lasts about an hour with a reception that follows for graduates, their families and friends and faculty, also held at the Wharton Center.

Wharton Center for Performing Arts is named in honor of Michigan State University's fourteenth president, Dr. Clifton Wharton and his wife Dolores. Wharton was president at MSU from 1970 to 1978 and recently served as Deputy Secretary of State in President Clinton's administration.

The Wharton Center is located on the corner of Bogue and Shaw Lane on the campus of Michigan State University. Parking is available in a ramp attached to the facility.
