Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Michigan
State University invites applications for a post-doctoral research
associate position. The successful candidate will have a strong
background in modeling and computation and is expected to develop
models for predicting the fate and transport of biological agents
(in particular, indicator bacteria such as E. coli) in
the coastal / near-shore environment. Experience in any or some
of the following areas is desirable: statistical modeling for
beach closures, sediment transport, modeling bacterial die-off
kinetics and wind-driven circulation in the Great Lakes. The
candidate is also expected to participate and oversee field
experiments to collect meteorological, hydrodynamic, chemical,
and biological data in the nearshore region. Review of the applications
will begin immediately. The anticipated start date of the position
is October 20, 2008 or as soon as a suitable candidate is found.
The position is initially available for one year with the possibility
for renewals depending on the availability of funding. To apply,
