December 2007 : Graduate students Adam Rogensues and Elodie Pasco join the group

November 2007 : Wenqian Shan together with Lu Ouyang (Bruening group, MSU Chemistry) were awarded diploma for their contribution to the project NANOMEMCAT: "Tailor-made CATalytic MEMbrane reactors with NANOstructured functional geometries for intensified chemical production". The project has been awarded the first prize in the"Synchronizing European Research" activity in NanoMemCourse EF1: "Nanostructured Materials and Membranes, Synthesis and Characterization" held in Zaragoza, Spain

September 2007: Fulin Wang receives dissertation completion fellowship from the College of Engineering

March 2007 : Julian Taurozzi is awarded Nordberg Fellowship by the CEE department in recognition of significant research contributions toward his PhD dissertation

February 2007: Our recent ES&T paper on nC60 toxicity is #9 on the list of most accessed papers in Oct-Dec 2006

January 2007 :  Dr. Seokjong Byun, a visiting scholar from Korea Institute of Science and Technology , joins the group

January 2007: Adam Rogensues is awarded 2007 Michigan Section AWWA Fellowship for Water Quality and Treatment Study

December 2006: Our paper on membrane-based SERS sensors is published in the Environmental Engineering Science journal: Taurozzi, J., V. V. Tarabara . Silver nanoparticle arrays on track etch membrane support as flow-through optical sensors for water quality control. Environ. Eng. Sci. 24 , 1, 122 -137 (2007).

November 2006: Our paper on nC60 toxicity is published in ES&T: Dhawan, A., Taurozzi, J. S., Pandey, A. K., Shan, W., Miller, S. M., Hashsham, S. A., V. V. Tarabara . Stable colloidal dispersions of C 60 fullerenes in water: Evidence for genotoxicity. Environ. Sci. Technol 40 , 23, 7394 - 7401 (2006).

November 2006: Volodymyr Bosak, a visiting Ph. D. student from the Membrane Science group at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in Ukraine joined the team for a month-long research visit.

November 2006: Two talks were given by our group members at Fall 2006 CEE research symposium: (1) "Effects of ozonation on permeate flux in hybrid ozonation-membrane process" by Jon Kim, and (2) "Nanoparticles removal from drinking water supply: characterization of products formed during ozonation of aqueous colloidal fullerenes" by Alla Alpatova

November 2006: Three talks were given at 2006 AIChE Annual meeting by our group: (1) " SERS-active silver nanoparticle arrays on track etch membrane support as flow-through water quality sensors" by Julian Taurozzi, (2) " Coupled effects of salt concentration polarization and colloidal deposition on the performance of reverse osmosis membranes" by Fulin Wang, and (3) " Stable colloidal dispersions of C 60 fullerenes in water: Evidence for genotoxicity" by Volodymyr Tarabara

March 2006: Alla Alpatova has joined the group. Alla will be working on the nanofiltration-ozonation project funded through the NSF NIRT program

January 2006: Our group together with the Bruening group has received NAMS student internship award for the project “International research internships: Membrane separations for water quality control"

January 2006: Dr. Jeonghwan (Jon) Kim has joined our NIRT team as a postdoctoral research associate. At MSU, Jeonghwan will work on the project with us and our NIRT partners: Dr. Melissa Baumann (MSU), Dr. Susan Masten (McMaster University), and Dr. Simon Davies (McMaster University)

January 2006: Wenqian Shan and Gautam Chalasani have joined the group in the Spring'06 semester

December 2005: Fulin Wang presented talk "Colloidal fouling of reverse osmosis membranes" at CEE research symposium

October 2005: Julian Taurozzi received McCowan Fellowship for Spring 2006 from CEE Department in recognition of his research contributions toward his PhD dissertation. Congratulations to Julian!

October 2005: Julian Taurozzi received a Certificate of Merit award for the outstanding paper "Membrane-supported nanoparticle sensors for water quality control" co-authored with Volodymyr Tarabara and presented at the AEESP-ACS Symposium on Environmental Nanotechnology, 230th ACS National Meeting in Washington, DC

April 2005: Volodymyr Tarabara presented talk "Coupled effects of scaling and colloidal deposition on the performance of reverse osmosis membrane filters" at the Research Advisory Board meeting of the National Water Research Institute in Santa Ana, CA

January 2005: Julian Taurozzi has joined our group as a Ph.D. student

October 2004: Fulin Wang presented poster "Desalination using membranes: coupled effects of colloidal deposition and solution chemistry on permeate flux" at the CEE Research Open House
